PEPCID® contains famotidine, which is different than ranitidine (the active ingredient in some other acid reducers, such as ZANTAC). PEPCID® (famotidine) was authorized for sale by Health Canada in 1996 for treatment and prevention of heartburn. It has been available over-the-counter in 10 mg and 20 mg strengths since 1996 and 2007, respectively. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist to determine if PEPCID® is right for you.

Is there a Pepcid Recall?

To help meet the sudden and unexpected increase in PEPCID demand, we have been partnering closely with our manufacturing sites to increase PEPCID supply in a timely and quality-based manner. PEPCID has not been recalled and inventory levels will vary by store location.
